Episode 11 - It's almost Summer! I've been gardening like mad trying to beat the summer heat. I've also been knitting up the storm. I've had some successes - I've actually finished my basketweave shell and Claude is done except for the seaming which is driving me BONKERS!

Music by:

Martin Ekman - It's Always a Beginning (background)

Irene Bedard & DENI - Ideology

Dave Weeks - A Case of the Blues

Green Man - Banks of the Lee

The wonderful laceweight yarn is from Sundara

http://sundarayarn.typepad.com/sundara_yarn/

If you haven't visited her website GO! but be careful, you might fall down and accidentally swipe your credit card. This woman has an amazing eye for color.

My favorite place to buy yarn on-line is The Yarn and Fiber Company

(I still can't get the link button to work.)

I recently sat down with a long time friend and we talked at length about knitting: what we like about it, learning how to knit and crochet. What needles and yarn we prefer and things of that nature. I recorded the episode in segments and intersperced them with music. Enjoy!

If you have a story about how you learned to knit or how you learned any type of craft I'd love to hear about it. Send me an email to trueyarns@hotmail.com and I'll read it on the air or record it and send it along.

To see photos of my knitting and other crafts along with my animals and where I live visit my personal blog at: www.everythingearin.blogspot.com

Great music by:

Buckstud - Leesha Beesha. I've played this before and was happy to play it again. I just love his cowboy outfit.

Sunset Festival - I walked away

Rose Gerber - Reaching back

Josh Woodward - Gravity

Jeff Scott Reynolds - I want to fly away

Spring has sproinged in Northern California!  I have put on my shorts for the first time this year (but it's cold again so back to warmer stuff). There are frogs, lots of frogs around the house both in our pond and spaced very evenly along the edges of the pool cover. Luck seems to have happened because now there is frog spawn attached to the edges and underside of the cover. Stay tuned for a tadpole update in the next episode!

I was unable to attend Stitches West this year so my friend Sharon kindly gives us a run down on what it was like.

I talk on and on about RV-ing and some wonderful, little visited parks in the northern part of Utah.  I also talk about the American Sewing Guild, a book review about how to knit toys and of course, what's on my needles.

Always great, always podsafe...music by:

Ann Driscoll: I Need a Reason

Bandees: Hi Laissez vous

Never Was Is: Child of Darkness

Kevin Bilchik: Long Ride

Episode 8 - A Quickie

I'm hitting the road tomorrow with my hubby, three cats and one small dog to head over to Utah in our RV so this is a short but sweet podcast.

Join our Anit-Knit From Stash (a total fantasy, non-existent club) Rotating Stash Club!

A poem to the joys of Frogging.

What's on my needles (without a fun "musical" introduction this time).

Music by:

Rose Gerber - Crossed Wires

Nathan Sheppard Band - Traveling On

I have the Winter Blues. Brought on by having to frog some of my knitting but all is better now. Also pushing me over the edge was the successful completion of the somewhat cowl, with a perfect fit I might add that went away when I washed the sucker. It grew and grew and grew and it will also have to be frogged (after I heal from the pain of it all - five weeks of knitting down the drain). I plead for advice on how to wash skeins without having them become a huge ball of knots.

In this episode I review a wonderful book, "Knitting   in the Old Way" by Priscilla Gibson-Roberts. Get.This.Book.

Organizing my stash. What did we do before the invention of ziplock bags?

While somewhat depressed about the somewhat cowl I resorted to "junk" reading.

Hard Rain by Barry Eisler. A rereading of one of a series. Fun, the first several books are great but I wasn't impressed with his latest.

The Thirteenth Tale: A Novel by Diane Setterfield. A fun book following a genre started by the Bronte sisters (perhaps even before their time). Not a page turner but engaging notheless.

The end of Secret Pal 9. Goodies from a complete stranger. How much fun is that? A Lot.

Whats on my needles? Complete with silly intro "music".

Some Yeats for Wendy the mother to be (now a mother - congratulations!).

Some more wonderful music from Garageband.

Dorthy Scott - Alma's Song

Sleeper Curve - Noughts & Crosses

Robert Farmer - Dream Theme

Happy Holidays everyone! My thanks to those of you who have commented. It means a lot to me.

In this episode I talk about:

*My "resolutions" for the upcoming year. Taking the time to select patterns that suit you (or the person you're gifting) so that you actually wear them. Being seduced by yarn color. Knitting from stash. Culling my household possessions. Joining KALs (I won a prize from the Red Sweater KAL!).

*Donating to the Doctors without Borders via the Yarn Harlot.

*What's on my needles (and the sweater jacket that may never be finished).

*Being madly in love with the designs of Elsebeth Lavold. I discuss briefly two of her Viking series books. Since this podcast was done I've received the red yarn that I ordered from her company and it is Very Fine.

Music by:

Martin Ekman - It's always a beginning when something ends. (I've played this song before but it's worth listening to again especially at the end of the year.)

Josh Woodward - Insomnia

Jeff Scott Reynolds - Fly Away
